The CompuCycle Plastics Plant: Leading The Way In E-Waste Plastic Recycling

Reusing and recycling items is far more environmentally sustainable than the current (and increasing) demand for new materials. To make matters worse, multiple tons of low-grade plastic are dumped into our oceans every year, and a lot of these plastics come from electronic devices.

That’s why CompuCycle took the initiative, launching its plastic plant in early 2023.

Our new facility showcases the many ways the e-waste business is good for both the business community and the environment. This new full-service, state-of-the-art, Texas-certified recycling, processing and plastics plant makes us a complete, one-stop, end-to-end solution for all your old IT assets.

The Plastic Recovery Plant: How it Works

Our advanced sink-float line system allows us to separate electronic plastic from other e-waste materials. The sink-float line uses the principle density of plastic items to separate them by type and grade. Since each type of plastic has a specific gravity, we can use water density to separate the plastics. One type of plastic floats while the rest fall to the bottom of the tank, or we can use the base solution to further change the water density, making multiple types of plastics float at different times.

The plastics are then separated at one of our dedicated recycling facilities and transformed into raw materials that can be used to produce new products, showcasing another example of how the e-waste business is good for the environment. This approach significantly reduces the demand for virgin plastics created from fossil fuels. By reusing recovered electronic plastic,
CompuCycle dramatically reduces waste and helps maintain a circular economy that minimizes reliance on finite resources.
