Houston-based CompuCycle brought its planned plastic sorting line upgrade online, allowing it to process up to three tons of e-plastic per hour, including PS, ABS, PE and PP. The equipment includes a float-sink system, which complements a plastic shredding and separation system the company added about six years ago. Clive Hess, CompuCycle president, said in a press release that the company “saw an opportunity to solve an industry challenge by creating the first domestic, sustainable, single-solution e-waste plastics program.”
CompuCycle, a Houston-based IT asset management and company, has expanded its plastics recycling capabilities to further process e-scrap plastics. It’s a move meant to attract customers from a wider array of end markets for the plastic, particularly original equipment manufacturers. The company recently added a 10,000-square-foot expansion to its recycling facility in Houston in order to further separate plastic scrap from end-of-life electronics. It now can separate its mixed plastic stream into PP, PE and PS streams, as well as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or ABS.
Thank you to Spring Branch ISD for recognizing Clive Hess, President of CompuCycle, as a significant alumnus. Clive learned the importance of teamwork and perseverance during his time at Memorial High School in the Spring Branch ISD. We are proud of Clive and his many achievements!

HOUSTON— April 30, 2019— Currently, there are more than 135 million cell phones, 23 million televisions, and 31 million computers in landfills in the United States that don’t have to be.
HOUSTON— January 9, 2019— When CompuCycle leaders looked at automating the company’s e-scrap processing, they realized there was no point in reinventing a well-functioning wheel. Colt Recycling, which has done business with CompuCycle, was already successfully using a custom-designed shredding and separation system in New Hampshire.
The great thing about business is being able to help people and make their lives easier. A byproduct of running a profitable business is the ability to make a significant impact within the communities we serve. Exxon Mobil is a great example of a company that uses its platform to make a difference in the lives of others.

HOUSTON— September 14, 2017— “The Basel Action Network (BAN) has issued a second report presenting information derived from its GPS tracking activities. Like the first report from a year ago, this report names electronics recyclers and leaves the casual reader presuming each named recycler is complicit in illegal exporting (part of an “export chain,” as BAN puts it).
September 6, 2017— CompuCycle had no prior knowledge of the BAN press release on September 6, 2017. We take issue with that release. We are horrified to be listed by BAN as a “Scam Recycler.” CompuCycle did not export a printer from our Houston facility to Hong Kong. What actually happened is as follows: CompuCycle delivered 15 skids of printers to our approved recycler in Fort Worth, Texas on July 13, 2017, and this is documented
