CompuCycle Executives Join R2 TAC and e-Stewards Leadership Council to Advance ITAD Standards

e-waste compucycle elected to r2 TAC and estewards leadership council

Houston-based ITAD provider deepens its industry influence through active participation in standard-setting committees.

As corporate ITAD needs evolve alongside stricter compliance and ESG requirements, CompuCycle continues to lead the way—this time by contributing directly to the development of industry standards. Two of CompuCycle’s top executives have recently joined the most influential certification committees in electronics recycling: the R2 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and the e-Stewards Leadership Council.

These appointments reflect CompuCycle’s deeper mission: to ensure that real-world operational insight informs how ethical, secure, and sustainable IT asset disposition is defined and implemented worldwide.

Active Roles in Shaping ITAD Standards

Clive Hess, President, Appointed to the e-Stewards Leadership Council

The e-Stewards Standard represents the highest global benchmark for socially and environmentally responsible electronics recycling. It bans prison labor, the export of hazardous waste to developing countries, and the use of unverified downstream vendors—ensuring a traceable and ethical end-to-end process.

Clive Hess has long championed these values. Under his leadership, CompuCycle built the only U.S. facility certified to both R2v3 and e-Stewards standards that also processes e-plastics in-house. His role on the e-Stewards Leadership Council enables him to contribute operational insight and advocate for practical, enforceable improvements that raise the bar for the entire industry.

“e-Stewards is about accountability,” said Hess. “By eliminating blind spots in the recycling process, we’re helping protect not just our environment, but the integrity of our clients’ data and reputations.”

Hamza Haroon, COO, Joins the R2 Technical Advisory Committee

The R2 Standard (Responsible Recycling) is one of the world’s most widely adopted frameworks for secure, responsible IT asset disposition. It addresses everything from data sanitization to downstream accountability.

As a member of the R2 TAC, Hamza Haroon brings deep expertise in facility operations, logistics, and compliance. His input helps ensure that updates to the R2 Standard remain not only ethically sound but realistically applicable across complex ITAD ecosystems.

“The value of sitting on a standards committee is being able to shape policy with hands-on experience,” Haroon said. “We’re helping create guidance that companies can actually implement—without compromising on ethics or efficiency.”

Why This Matters: Influence Beyond Certification

Participation in certification committees isn’t just symbolic—it’s strategic. By contributing to the frameworks that define responsible ITAD, CompuCycle is uniquely positioned to ensure that certification standards reflect both the highest ethical values and real-world operational best practices.

From downstream vendor accountability to audit protocols and e-waste handling guidelines, CompuCycle’s voice is helping refine what excellence looks like in this evolving industry.

A E-Waste Facility That Leads by Example

CompuCycle is one of the few ITAD companies equipped to meet the very standards it helps shape. Unlike vendors who rely on third-party subcontractors, CompuCycle manages every stage of the disposition lifecycle in-house:

  • Secure pickup and background-checked logistics
  • Certified data destruction (R2v3 and e-Stewards compliant)
  • On-site shredding and material separation in Houston
  • Domestic e-plastics processing

This closed-loop infrastructure ensures full visibility and control from pickup to final processing, reducing risk and building trust with corporate clients.

For Enterprise Clients: Compliance Backed by Expertise

Choosing a certified ITAD partner is no longer just a checkbox—it’s a business-critical decision. With executives actively shaping how certification programs evolve, CompuCycle offers clients unique peace of mind. You’re not just working with a vendor who follows the rules. You’re working with a company helping to define them.

Whether your priority is ESG performance, data protection, or regulatory compliance, CompuCycle helps you meet it—ethically, securely, and transparently.

Moving the Electronic Recycling Industry Forward

The ITAD industry is at a tipping point. With global demands for environmental responsibility and stricter data governance, only companies that combine compliance with innovation will lead the way.

CompuCycle’s involvement with the R2 TAC and e-Stewards Leadership Council signals a new chapter—one where ethics and operational excellence go hand-in-hand.
