CompuCycle provides strong environmental standards that maximize reuse and recycling, minimize exposure to human health or the environment, ensure safe management of materials by downstream handlers, and require the destruction of all data on used electronics.
In January of 2011, CompuCycle was proud to become Houston’s first Responsible Recycling (R2) Certified company!
The Responsible Recycling Practices Standard (R2:2013) certification, which the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizes, is a set of voluntary principles and guidelines designed to promote and assess responsible practices for electronics recyclers. A management system is required that is accountable for practices affecting worker health and safety, security, the environment, and the downstream management, both domestically and internationally, of end-of-life electronic material and equipment, including cellphones and batteries.
An R2 certification addresses all areas of concern from a data breach due to improperly discarded IT equipment to reuse and remarket.
ISO 9001 is the international standard for a quality management system (“QMS”). Organizations use the standard to demonstrate their ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements and to demonstrate continuous improvement.
Benefits of ISO 9001:2015 include:
ISO 14001:2015 is the global standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS) to reduce tail the business’s footprint and decrease the decreased waste a business produces. It exists to help organizations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment.
Benefits of ISO 14001:2015 include:
ISO 45001 is an International Standard that specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, with guidance for its use, to enable an organization to improve its OH&S performance in preventing injury ill-health proactively.
Benefits of ISO 45001:2018 include:
As of May 2015, CompuCycle has gained its certification as a woman-owned small business through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). CompuCycle will use the certification to help its corporate clients meet supplier diversity goals and further differentiate itself from its competition. “Corporates trust our data sanitization and destruction services, equipment refurbishing and environmentally responsible electronics recycling,” CompuCycle President Kelly Hess said. “We’re excited to connect with the WBENC community and show how e-cycling helps the bottom line.”
While CompuCycle takes every precaution promoting and providing safety, security, and environmental performance as evidenced by our R2, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 certifications and audited procedures, we also take our corporate financial responsibility just as seriously.
CompuCycle carries the highest insurance policy in the recycling industry, covering General Liability, Vehicle Liability, Worker’s Compensation, Employer’s Liability, Pollution Liability, Tech (E&O), and Umbrella Liability. Current insurance documents are routinely available upon request.
